Stainless Steel Soil Vapour Implants can be used for soil gas sampling in both permanent and temporary installations. They provide an accurate and economical solution for soil gas investigations and vapour intrusion assessments.
Features:
- 150 mm stainless steel mesh screen
- Stepped barb connector
- Easy connection to FEP (Teflon®) tubing
- Threaded weights/anchor points available
- FEP tubing and red end caps available
The stainless steel mesh allows soil vapour from the target zone to enter the implant and travel through the connected tubing to the surface.
The stepped barb provides a secure, tool-free connection to FEP tubing. At the surface, the tubing can be sealed with an end cap when the sampling point is not in use.
Installation
Installation involves drilling or augering a hole to the required sampling depth and lowering the implant into the target zone with the tubing connected.
Sand or gravel pack is placed around the implant across the target zone. The remaining bore is then backfilled and sealed with soil and/or bentonite.
The soil vapour sample is drawn from the exposed end of the tubing at the surface. When not in use, keep the tubing capped.
Do I need a weight?
Coiled FEP tubing can act like a spring and may bind against the sides of the bore.
For shallow installations of a few metres, a weight may not be necessary. For deeper installations, a weight is recommended to help lower the implant to the required depth.
