Prepack Screen 50mm
Prepack Screen 50mm
A pre-pack screen is a groundwater monitoring well screen that comes with the filter sand already attached around the outside of the screen.
Normally, when installing a monitoring well, you would:
- Install the PVC screen.
- Pour filter sand around the screen.
- Add bentonite above the sand.
With a prepacks, the filter sand is already wrapped around the screen and held in place by a mesh and outer sleeve. This means you don't need to place the filter sand separately in the field.
In simple terms: A pre-pack screen is a monitoring well screen with the filter pack already built onto it, making installation quicker and helping ensure a consistent filter around the screen.
Why they're used:
- Faster installation.
- Useful in difficult boreholes where placing sand is challenging.
- Provides a uniform filter pack around the screen.
- Reduces the chance of bridging or gaps in the filter sand
